JAPANESE LANGUAGE LESSONS - CAIRNS
This site is for current and prospective Japanese Language students looking to Learn Japanese in Cairns.
This is Michi's site, a professional Japanese teacher based in Cairns, Far North Queensland, Australia.
Learning a language is a long journey. Michi's classes offer continuity, and make your learning journey fun and rewarding.
Michi runs classes and works at James Cook University as a tutor when needed. Michi is also available for private lessons or classes for specific purposes.
Beginners, Pre-Intermediate and Intermediate courses are currently running. Each course is divided into 4 modules.
- Japanese Beginners A
- Japanese Beginners B
- Japanese Beginners C
- Japanese Beginners D
Beginners classes start with such topics as basic greetings, numbers, asking where things are and an introduction to the Japanese script Hiragana.
- Japanese Pre-Intermediate A
- Japanese Pre-Intermediate B
- Japanese Pre-Intermediate C
- Japanese Pre-Intermediate D
The last module in Pre-Intermediate includes topics such as expressing uncertainty and certainty, making predictions and learning 100 Kanji (the Chinese characters used in Japanese).

The intermediate course is for those who have studied a Pre-Intermediate course or equivalent. If you can hold a conversation in Japanese, and would like to expand your vocabulary and work on fluency, this is for you. Students have already studied complicated sentence structures in the Pre-Intermediate course, but may not be able to use them in conversation just yet. Here, you will continue building up more vocabulary and will learn to use combinations of familiar sentence structures.
